I had a hangout other night with my old friends from my industry. They are project managers and I love chatting with those "strategy" kind of people :)
One of them, who I call "Bro", was so into analysing Japanese idol culture and he talked about it enthusiastically. His detailed analysis was very interesting and probably accurate.
Still, maybe because his story made so much sense, I felt a bit strange, or more likely uncomfortable. I feel that sometimes when I'm here in my own country. But I rarely find people to talk about it with.
The bottom line is that this country is susceptible to those business models that exploit people. And it affects the education system (or, the education system allows those business models? maybe both) . That makes me so sad :(
This was my first time GDC. Yee-Haw!
I stayed at StartupHouse. It was a cool place to stay and cheap!
I'm a teacher in my home country these days. My client's holding a workshop for their own employees. We have the same lesson on each day of the week and different teachers for each day. I'm "Miss Thursday".
We teach them how to use some particular software for their work effectively.
I had no experience of teaching but I'm kinda good at management so I thought it would be easy peasy. But I was wrong.
"Kids are like pancakes. First one is always a throwaway." - Howard Wolowitz from The Big Bang Theory
"We are taught right now that we are living in a world of constant and increasing polarity. It's so black and white, so us and them, so right and wrong. There is no middle, there is no gray, just polarity."
" I think the opposite of polarity is duality. Duality is a state of having two parts, but not in diametrical opposition, in simultaneous existence. "
Contradiction is like, the twisted part of the Möbius strip made with a piece of paper.
You can displace the half-twist but you never can get rid of it from the strip.
Homofobia, racism, lookism, obesity, animal rights, food waste, GMO, environments, hanger, disease, etc etc.. All those problems line up on the strip.
"If you have a crisis in your life, you'll notice something. It won't be your Twitter followers who come to sit with you. It won't be your Facebook friends who help you turn it round."
"we've traded stuff for connections, and the result is we are one of the loneliest societies there has ever been."
"we've been singing war songs about addicts. I think all along we should have been singing love songs to them, because the opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection."
"We need every form of human intelligence on the planetworking together to tackle the challenges that we face as a society. We can't afford to waste a brain."
North Star = Your goal = User's magic moment
Not exactly he said and not exactly he meant, tho.
I really wonder why people don't see this simple truth in lots of projects.
